Toy Box Horde Mode Help

Postby Sliderx105 » Tue Mar 10, 2015 12:21 am

Hey all,

I've just gotten into making my own more advanced toy boxes that have their own sub games to play. I've been trying to make a Gears of War Horde Mode style game. I've got almost all of what I need to make it functional, but I'm stuck on how to make it so that character defeat results in failing the challenge. Do I tie the defeat manager to the challenge creator to accomplish this? I've searched high and low for a couple of days, including on this forum and I have had no luck figuring it out. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I'd say that sounds about right but one of the experts will come in and correct me if I'm wrong.

You could try connecting the defeat manager by choosing once defeated in properties to the challenge creator and once defeated to end challenge.

Not sure as never used it but try that and see how it works.

I actually use the Victory Tracker for this. It has options to link Player 1-4 defeated to the challenge maker to then fail the challenge for the defeated player. I haven't looked at the defeat manager so it might have similar functionality.

MightyGitis is absolutely right. You need to use the Victory Tracker:Defeated:Player # tied to the Challenge Maker:Game Failed .

Defeat Manager doesn't do anything like this and I believe there is no logic you can even attack to or from it. It just sets it so players lose sparks when they die, or they have to put a new character on the grid or can even wipe their power meter out if they are defeated.

Cool! Thanks everybody! We'll see what happens once I'm done building and set up all the logic. :)

Great idea BTW, I've always thought horde would be a great fit.
