In the description of Anger's abilities, it lists the ability to walk on lava.
Which got me wondering, can he do this anywhere in the game or is it just for the Inside Out playset?

If he was immune to lava everywhere, he'd be able to ignore any hazard relating to them in normal gameplay (toy box, minigames, etc).

I hope it's only in the Inside Out playset not the toy box. He could cheat in game in toy boxes.

Only inside the Playset! He can't walk on lava in the Toy Box.

It is an issue with Toy Box creation and Lava being used as a barrier or specific gameplay tool which would trigger a respawn. So lets say you are building a toy box with a canyon full of lava and a specific bridge that if the player falls off it would trigger a respawn, but Anger falls off the bridge and gets stuck at the bottom of this inescapable canyon... gameplay ruined for that person. (tried to make that response simple, haha) Hope that makes sense.

I can think of a couple of ways to solve that problem.

The first is to simply switch characters to one that can fly.

The second is to activate the Spark Tool, move it somewhere else on the map, deactivate it and it moves the character to the new position.

But who wants to do that everytime there's lava in a toybox? I think it's great that he can't walk on lava in the toybox.

I can forsee one immediate problem with that approach though.

What if someone wants to design an Inside Out themed puzzle map and gets to the point where they build a challenge specifically made for Anger?
Since it would involve the walking on lava part, I assume they cannot.

If I'd been coding the lava blocks, I'd have put a code somehow in that says "toggle on, Inside Out lava code active".
Which would recognize it was the kind Anger is meant to be immune to and not the regular kind.
Toggle the setting to off and it becomes regular lava again.

Isnt this the same issue everyone had when fliers were introduced in 2.0?

What about setting an invisible barrier with the top even with the lava? Would that register as hitting the lava. If it works, just lock the level to Anger and you have yourself a game.

Old topic but I notices Sadness can float on clouds in the Toybox, or at least in the Hub she can. I don't think it would be a problem if Anger could walk on lava. In fact I rather wish he could.
