Cars is the worst playset in the game!

After a long break, I decided to go back to Cars and attempt to finish the work I started.
Note the keyword there is attempt.

I got to the Stunt Park and was given a mission about jumping through rings.
I managed to achieve most of them, but the final one is over a jump I consistently fail to make nearly everytime.
I've only made it twice out of all my attempts (maybe 20-30).

And just for extra cruelty, it is a timed mission! :x

After the 4th failed attempt, I decided, Cars is the absolute worst playset they ever came up with!
Just because of the sheer amount of frustration involved in losing over and over.
I made the decision that I should just stop, because if I keep going like this, I'm most likely going to have a violent reaction and smash the crystal playset piece with a hammer! :x

And to give you an idea, I have never given up on any of the playsets before.
NOT ONE SINGLE ONE.
I kept trying until I mastered the task at hand and completed it.
Even the ones I didn't like I still kept trying until they were done.

I think I've learned a lesson here.
If it involves vehicles or racing in Disney Infinity, just don't bother with it!

I really hope they don't decide to make a Planes playset.......
Although, that might be less frustrating, as they can fly!
So if I can't reach something, I'll just fly around until I can!
After all, it worked with the Incredicopter, the Star Command Jetpack and the Crow Wingpack......

i have a feeling that this problem could be easily solved if the playsets had online play sessions.
Just invite a skilled player to my game when I run into insurmountable problems and let them solve it for me.

that's like saying chocolate is the worst ice cream flavor. Yeah it's true, but you're still eating ice cream!

I prefer fruit flavored ice cream myself. ;)

The point is, with all of the other playsets, I could learn from my failures and improve so my chances of success increase on each successive attempt.

But with Cars, I just don't get that feeling.
For example, that jump I keep failing.

I do the exact same thing each time and it's just dumb luck as to whether I can stick the jump or not.
Because I'm approaching the jump at Boost Speed (really really fast!), the slightest error and I'm back down way below with the timer running out.
The one time I got up there, I mistimed the second jump to the actual ring.
I kept trying, but I lost too much time and had to give up because there was no time left for tagging the other 14 rings.

To reference your analogy, if you don't like the ice cream flavor, stop eating the ice cream and go get another flavor.
And if they start selling a similar flavor, don't try to eat that.

Which is why, if I see another racing/vehicle themed DI playset, I'm going to be very careful about buying it, to avoid repeating this colossal mistake.
Get as much info as I can to determine if this disaster will be recreated in a different form.

At least it wasn't a complete waste of time, I got some nice textures, objects and racetracks for toybox.
Even if I wasn't able to get the remaining ones (you have to finish the story for that and I've already explained why I can't do that).

Oh I'm with you, it was fun until all the trick challenges. You're braver than me though, I haven't tried going back again. Too many other flavors I like

Sneaky Sneak Solution (Possibly)

i was looking at my secondary PS3 controller and had an idea.

Who says I have to do this soloplayer mode?

I have more then one Cars figure and two controllers, so why not rig the mission?

I reasoned if I got Holley into position ahead of time, she could tag the one up high and Lightning could get the ones down below!
Here's a screenshot:
Image

On my test attempt, it worked! :D
Holley was not required to be anywhere near the mission giver when Lightning activates it.
And she was freely able to pick up the ring that Lightning is having difficulty getting across to.

When in doubt, Teamwork!
Isabella (Phineas and Ferb) would be so proud. :D See the episode Phineas and Ferb Busters to get the reference. ;)

Edit: not as easy as I would have hoped.
But at least I've identified why this mission is so hard.

It is designed for tag team play.

One Car has to take the rings on the left side of the stunt park, the other car has to take the rings on the right side.
The difficulty increases 200% if you're doing it alone.

Remind me again about the no online play in playsets?

I might get the Cars set just to get the capsules but only if they mark it down, I'm not any any hurry to buy anytime soon.

Fair warning, some of the capsules are dependent on beating the stunt park.

There's a red one that was tormenting me for ages until I grabbed it by a fluke.
It had the Blue Mailbox inside it, if you are curious as to what it contained.

And just to the left of where Holley is parked is a pair of green capsules I have completely failed to acquire.
One of them is behind a locked gate that will not open.
I assume it's not letting me in there until this mission is beaten.

And no, there is no alternate method to get it, it's so high in the air, you either go through the gate or not at all.

I've said it before and no doubt I will keep saying it, why can't Holley fly?
This problem would solve itself if she could do that!
Which I think is the whole point, they can't force you to do stunts if Holley could just take to the air and grab all these rings.

Maybe it's just me, but I think they're pushing the ground vehicle too hard with this one.
Even to the point of removing Holley's special abilities so she's just another car.
I was really hoping to get her Taser (it's hidden in one of her front wheel spokes) and flight abilities when I got her.

And still haven't beaten this one.
13 of 15 is my best score so far.
About half of them require a precise boost jump to get.
Let's do the math again, 4 boosts, 8 boost jumps.
I'm losing so much trying missing the boost jump and having to recharge it that the timer runs out.

Whoever designed this mission is really evil! :o

Edit: Make that supremely evil!
I've tried this again and again with very little improvement.

I think the problem is if you fail the ring acquisition even once, you're basically done.
It takes too long to circle back around and attempt it again.
If you have to try 3 times, you're stuffed.

Most of them I find easy to get it.

It's the slightly elevated ones near the large pedestals that are proving problematic.
I keep mistiming the jump, using up a boost jump in the process and missing completely.
No matter how well I do, when it comes to the pedestal rings, it's game over.

I'm not attempting this again unless I can get someone (preferably with better driving skills) to help me get it done.
And since I don't know anyone who plays Disney Infinity locally..........

haha, wow. Don't forget to mention that the trick park area can be hard to even find in the 1st place.
