^ Not to be rude, but if you "can't be bothered" to go frame by frame, then maybe animation isn't for you. Animation is an EXTREMELY time consuming skill that takes a lot of patience. If you have lots of ideas to get out, maybe consider illustration?

^ Not worry about being rude, we are in the internet. Nah, I've tried illustration as well, not my best suit. I don't want to do this as a career, just as a time-consumer while I'm on holidays, I am writing bios and stories with these characters for now. I thought it could be good to get it animated, my friend and I were talking about the voice-acting side which I REALLY wanted to do but I needed something to voice-over.

mdewater,

Great Work! I especially like the Dreamsweeper piece. Back in the day when I used to do game design and effects animation, I used a PC program called Promotion by Cosmigo. IMHO, this is the best program for doing cel-based Disney style animation. Check it out. It was based on Deluxe Paint (by Electronic Arts), in the good ol' Amiga days. Promotion is quite powerful, but only can have 256 colors on screen for each frame.

Avalanche Software animators use MAYA . Most game studios use MAYA as well but 3dsMax or Softimage is still used in some places

Does stopmotion count?

Absolutely! All animation uses the same principles developed by Disney's "nine old men" whether it's hand-drawn, CG, or stop motion!
