July 25, 2014 Update (2nd pic): The bottom screen displays pictures matching each mode! This was quite a task for the UI (User Interface) designers, but they made it happen. Kudos to them! ^Expecting Wario, but of course we got that Sakurai surprise . I'm glad Sakurai isn't one of those people where in the bottom screen they just put down 'Main Menu' or the title or the smash logo.
Also it's pretty nice that you can see the battery percentage, time, and wi-fi in game.

The 3DS version looks very dumbed-down.
Smash- The normal 2-4 player fighting mode.
Online- Self explanatory. Connects to the game's online modes.
Challenge- Probably the thing with the glass boxes and hammers that unlocks exclusive trophies and stuff.
Smash Run- The City Trial-like mode, exclusive to the 3DS version of the game.
Games & More- The bonus modes like trophy rush and classic mode. Also things like Trophy Collection, Sound Test, and Options.
Street Pass- The game will have a street pass function that will most likely give you the ability to fight with a ghost of the person you street passed with.
Wii U- They've already previously stated that you'll be able to transfer your custom characters and movesets between both versions of the game.

That's it. The game will have less stages and modes than the 3DS version, less assist trophies… Pokémon… The above is it.

^You're forgetting about classic mode. In the E3 2014 trailer it showed Kirby destroying master hand. And how does it look 'dumbed-down'? What is it missing?

However, I still want Bowser Jr. and Ridley. I know Ridley has been confirmed not playable by Sakurai, but I can dream.
And I expect Ness to be coming soon.

Ridley has not been confirmed not playable by Sakurai, Sakurai is famous for being a huge tease. So until the day comes that he flat out says, "This is Ridley from the Metroid series, he is a Boss on Pyrosphere and is not a playable character." There is still a chance that Ridley is playable. For all we know that WAS playable Ridley and Sakurai purposefully did that whole part to lead fans on. I mean Toon Link was shown as the conductor of the Spirit Tracks stage long before he was confirmed to return, at that point everyone thought for sure he was not returning, and look at him now. Hope is still alive for our purple draconic friend (who I am also rooting for, along with Mewtwo).

Very true.
I believe DIsney Infinity actually beat Sakurai this week in teases.
