Nintendo Has Announced That Tatsumi Kimishima Will Be The New President

The recent news from Nintendo ends speculation on who will step up to the late Satoru Iwata’s role, after the sad news of his passing in July this year. Whilst Shigeru Miyamoto and Genyo Takeda have been temporarily taking the lead, Nintendo made clear that this was not going to be on a permanent basis.

Nintendo has announced that Tatsumi Kimishima will now be the new President of Nintendo Co. Before the announcement of his new role, Mr Kimishima was posted as President of Nintendo America, and was also formerly President of Pokemon America in 2001.

Although it’s still extremely sad to think about the passing of Mr. Iwata, and to reminisce on all that he has done for the company, I’m sure Mr Kimishima will respectfully step up to the plate and lead the company forward.

Kimishima Has Been Elected For One Year And Open For Outsider To Run Nintendo

The newly appointed Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima has spoken to The Nikkei regarding his new position. Kimishima says that he has been elected for one year to run the Kyoto based company and is uncertain what will happen next. He also revealed that he is open to someone outside of Nintendo taking over the company one day in the future. Kimishima remains convinced that their foray into smartphone development will continue and that the main task at hand is to develop new businesses.

Better to delay a bit than release a game full of bugs. I'm all for that. If they took it off the Christmas list, they definitely have good reasons. They would not skip Christmas just for fun.

No, I am glad they are perfecting it, I am just worried it will be like Zelda U where we never hear about it for a huge period of time.

Nintendo Is Now Distributing The Software Kit For The Nintendo NX

Sources close to the Wall Street Journal have been told that Nintendo is currently distributing software kits for their upcoming NX platform. This suggests that it’s likely that the product will be introduced next year. Nintendo has previously said that they won’t be publicly talking about the Nintendo NX until 2016.

Nintendo Co. has begun distributing a software development kit for its new NX videogame platform, people familiar with the matter said, suggesting the company is on track to introduce the product as early as next year.

The exact shape of the NX hardware isn’t yet clear. People familiar with the development plans said Nintendo would likely include both a console and at least one mobile unit that could either be used in conjunction with the console or taken on the road for separate use. They also said Nintendo would aim to put industry-leading chips in the NX devices, after criticism that the Wii U’s capabilities didn’t match those of competitors.

Report: Dev. Kits Suggest Nintendo NX Likely More Powerful Than PS4 And Xbox One

The internet is abuzz with positive news for the Big N following their seeming release of Nintendo NX software development kits. However, NintendoForums has recently spoken with major game publishing company based in the U.S. and it looks like the Nintendo NX will be outpacing both the PS4 and Xbox One. According to the unnamed publishing company:

[O]ne software demo included with the kit crunches so many polygons that it’s currently impossible to run at 60fps using a current-generation Intel (we’re assuming a Core i7 Skylake) CPU and a nearly top-of-the-line graphics card…

This change, if brought to the final build, would be a major departure for Nintendo who has previously focused on less-powered technology in their hardware than their competition. Given how analysts are predicting a Holiday 2016 release, NintendoForum makes the conclusion that Nintendo is working with an established chip giant to create a proprietary and specialized CPU and GPU to outperform what is currently on the market.
