They don't seem to work and they would be helpful in the wishlist threads.

EDIT: Any chance of allowing the spoiler to have a different title instead of "spoiler" in much the same way you can with an URL.

For instance [spoiler= The Lion King] your text about The Lion King in here [/spoiler] would create a spoiler box with the heading "The Lion King".

ps: i'm looking into it really but the code has changed a bit on this version for some reason
