Cars Play Set and more Disney Infinity Information

I just got this months' issue of Game Informer magazine and it includes a multipage article on Disney Infinity (yay!) including pictures of characters from Cars and their figures. I'll try to post pictures and any new info mentioned later after I read the article.

woo! can't wait!

I haven't had time to get pictures up yet but here are some highlights from the article that I don't think we already knew about Disney Infinity:

* buff power discs (the circular ones) work in the toybox as well as in all playsets and duplicate ones can be stacked to multiply the buff that your character receives

* the blaster gun from Lilo and Stitch was mentioned as a weapon

* web codes that come with accessories can be entered to unlock additional content for online play

* more playable characters are unlocked as you progress through the game

* while working closely with the filmmakers, the game developers were able to use character and scene designs that did not make it into the finished films. for example: Baron Von Ruthless, a character only mentioned in the movie, will be one of the villains in The Incredibles playset

* the Cars playset takes place after Cars 2

* Chick Hick and other racers appear in the playset. Flo is also seen in one of the pictures in the article

* buildings from the Cars playset have fold out parts that allow you to race through them


So there is some fun new info. I'm not sure how unlocking more characters will work if you do not have a figure of that character, but the article specifically mentioned that some characters will have figures and others will just be unlockable. Maybe they are referring to the little toy people characters that we've seen like the ones in Toy Story 3's toybox. But then how are they playable? Some answers just bring up more questions

very interesting, i wonder if the unlockable characters are the quest givers maybe? i dunno, but i would just want more figures lol

also the idea of seeing unused characters a la Baron Von Ruthless is gonna be sooooo cool for us DIsney die-hards. i know adscan will like that incredibles news

Yes, I want more figures too! And love hat here will be REALLY obscure characters.

It's good to know that the game won't be totally ignored.

@Adscan : Somehow I get the feeling that Frozone will just be an NPC. Sad news as he would be awesome to play as, but we've seen mention of pretty much every other main character(I'd say Jack-Jack is the only one that hasn't had an appearance). I don't think they'll be making playable characters without figures- it would just be awkward and might upset people who want the figures as well.
