Gamers around the world face a shock announcement today with the news that Activision has already been purchased by Disney.

The purchase which apparently took place in January of 2013 was the culmination of over 2 years of negotiations between the companies.

Leaked internal communications provide details confirming that major shareholders of both companies have already been notified. There is also a timeline for a public announcement, the process of which has already begun.

26 April 2013: Termination of all factory contracts for the production of Skylanders.

29 April 2013: Skylanders Universe to be deactivated. To distract fans this has been disguised behind supposed new games, details of the deactivation has been posted to the Skylanders Universe blog at http://universe.skylanders.com/blog/

30 April 2013: Press announcement of the Skylanders SWAP Force cancellation.

Both companies have been contacted for comment but have not yet responded.
