How to improve the efficiency of a spark chamber?

Postby Tilarta » Fri Sep 11, 2015 6:03 am

Given that my attempts to make a spark generator were not that sucessful, I replicated one from a tutorial I found on the internet.

It's more efficient then the ones I designed, but it is still slower then the specified time to level 20.

The first version of the tutorial was 1 hour 20 minutes.
Second version, 20 minutes.
3.0 version, 7 minutes.

Rough estimate, my version, 3 hours.

What factors could be slowing the time down?

I am using Tank Omnidroids in a 3x3 grid and Tron User Control disc.

Maybe the person who made the tutorials has a lot of figures which increases the sparks he can take every time. You can see the presentage of your spark bonus if you select "Disney Infinity Collection" in 2.0 or 3.0.

It says my Experience Bonus is 86%.
I have 27 figures.

I would have thought it would have been a lot less, considering I wasn't buying every figure that exists.

I did discover a problem though, I position the character levelling up in the precise center of the grid.
Then I observed that half the sparks where just falling on the ground and not being collected.

To test the theory that all the sparks needed to be collected, I started running laps of the spark chamber and the levelling rate accelerated exponentially.

I noticed in the tutorial video the creator was using a Merlin's Summon disc, which increases spark collection range.
Unfortunately I do not have one of these, so I may have to figure out a way to concentrate the sparks to drop in a more confined area.

You could also rig something with the path creator around the kill zone and set it up so you are riding a vehicle that moves on the path.

There's a fantastic generator called "Spark Plug!!!" available online. Instead of going with a 9x9 it stacks the enemy generators above each other vertically so they all fall down in a confined area. It's pretty genius.

I found this topic about Spark Plug:
http://www.disneyinfinityfans.com/viewtopic.php?t=12674

But the link in the thread is invalid and I cannot find the toy box by searching for it in DI3.0.

I replicated a basic version of HoltGames' spark generator (from this forum).

I configured it to drop 100 Tank Omnidroids in a 2x2 space, directly over the head of the character.
Some sparks are still falling outside collection range, but it seems less of them are doing so now.
I've still in initial testing phase, but so far, it seems more efficient.

The main problem I have is that something pushes the character outside of the bounding area and this shuts down the spark generator.
Since I have completely enclosed the spark area, it's impossible to re-enter once pushed out.

Also, a flaw I encounted one time is that it wouldn't restart when I returned, I had to reload the entire map from a save to reinitialize it.
