Also a point was made that Kylo Ren isn't well trained and is rather weak because of his confliction of light vs. darkness. That was a disadvantage for him in the saber battle. As of now, he's not a threat; he's a fool, coward, and a device to fully illustrate the themes of Star Wars. This was my favorite thing about this remake/revamp and I'm glad JJ was able to bring this intelligence to the series. I think an attempt will be made yet to save him from the dark side in coming films.

@BenFleischman
It'd be nice, but I don't want him saved.
I want Chewie to rip his arms off.

I do agree though. I'm good if he struggles with dark and light but I don't want the final scene in the trilogy being Rey giving an inspiring speech to Kylo about good and light and in a moment of clarity he chooses the light.

Let this be a complicated and painful descent into the dark side that ends in the biggest baddest Villain sci Fi has ever seen. (what Vader should have been).

JJ really wanted to bring the birth of a villian and the birth of heroes to this film. As we go on they will be stronger on both sides. So excited to see how everything plays out. :)

An article about some of the deleted scenes of The Force Awakens. (some spoilers, of course)
