Disney Infinity is Ceasing Operations in June

Devastating. Disney Infinity has been one of the only video games to take my life by storm. The community, the developers, the characters.. Everything. Disney Infinity was the whole package. This game will forever hold a place in my heart. The fact that it came so fast is not only a shock to fans, but a blow to everyone working on the game. My heart goes out to all of the developers and team members that made this game so special to me that may now be out of a job. I'll have memories I can share forever because of this game.

It's not April 1st, is it? I just... no.

I'm having difficulty accepting this is actually happening.

So no Peter Pan, or figure polls or... anything.

This is the saddest that I've been about the end of a game in a very long time.

I guess "Infinite possibilities" turned out to be finite after all.

As if this week couldn't get any worse for me....

BUT WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR KINGDOM HEARTS?!

What I don't get is, surely there are other figures that are near-release? They had been working on a Star Wars and Disney Playset. They're really not going to release them to get some of the money back?

It seems so bloody cruel to promise us all these items, Pan etc and to just sweep the rug out from under us. I understand that it's out of the control of the actual DI team members, but I can't fathom why Disney wouldn't at least release everything they had announced.

I am legitimately hurt by this. At least they're leaving us with the Finding Dory stuff, Marvel Battlegrounds, and everything else but still, wow, this is sad.

This means no Goofy, no Pine Twins, no Elliot, no Pooh, no Darkwing Duck, and we may not even get Peter Pan. (Which especially sucks as that was the character my sister was most looking forward to.) The poll is probably going to have been for naught as well unless they can scrounge something up in time.

I wish JV and the others the best with whatever they take on next, but this is still really sad.

On the bright side, we still have the games themselves to make Toy Boxes. I can see the fandom lasting for a good long while.

Agreed. Not Peter Pan? Not the last playsets? I understand (not really) wrapping it up, but holy cripes, there were a good handful of things on the immediate horizon.

I really don't want this to end. Not like this.

Kingdom Hearts is still coming. Square Enix makes that game.

I'm curious what this will mean for the characters you need a web connection for. Will it effectively put a time limit on acquiring them before the servers close down?

I think the saddest thing of all is that more than 300 people are out of a job now. I mean, it especially hits hard with JV and Allison since they're basically associated with this game, especially when JV genuinely seems to love his job and Allison is now unemployed with a baby on the way.

On a figure note, I'm just really upset about Goofy, Pan, and Doctor Strange. They all seemed inevitable, unlike my other requests, and now they'll never come at all.
