I saw Pacific Rim.
Overall, I thought it was a great movie.
However, there was one part I found problematic.
I'll try to explain.
The Jaigers used always had the control center in the head.
And well, that was the first thing the Kaiju ripped off!
Keep in mind Jaigers are machines, not organic creatures.
There's a design philosophy with mechanoids that the brain need not necessarily be in the head, since they don't have internal organs taking up the space.
For examples:
Transformers have a secondary brain in their chest (where organics normally have their lungs).
Kryten from Red Dwarf, his brain was actually in his stomach (it's behind the white disc).
So, if I'd been the one building the Jaigers, I'd have put the control center in the stomach and the head would just be a red herring, since there's no actual pilot in there.
Plus, even if the head was ripped off, the rest of the Jaiger would just kept fighting while the Kaiju tried to work out where the pilot was.
And since the next targets were the arms and legs, the Kaiju would be dead long before it figured out where the pilot station actually was.
