My Little Pony Friendship is Magic

Here's the latest addition to the huge list of variant covers for IDW's MLP comic books. (I tell ya, Hot Topic gets the coolest covers!)

Some of you might already know that season 4 won't start until winter this year... Yeah, I know. That's a long time... Thankfully, we still have the ongoing comic series, which is actually pretty good (Especially when it hits issue 5!).

We ALSO have this 29 minute fan episode, Double Rainboom! Whether you like the story or not, you gotta admit that it at least has some good quality animation for a fan project.

I liked the episode but I think it spent too long in

the Powerpuff Girls' realm. I think an original place would have worked better there.

It was a nice crossover, but also totally unexpected and a bit of a let down.

I personally would have preferred a story set in Equestria. I mean, after watching the first ten minutes, I wasn't expecting a literally "out of this world" story. Especially one on the same level as a crude crossover fanfic. We could have spent some time on the damage Rainbow Dash caused in Ponyville, or on a completely different story about the double rainboom and/or its aftermath. Or, if a crossover was necessary, why not one with the other hub shows like Transformers, Littlest Pet Shop, or Dan Vs? That at least would have been less random.

So I just found out about Story of The Blanks...

The scary thing is that this is the exact type of thing that could happen on the show. Nobody quite knows what is in the Everfree Forest. Plus, in the same way as Party of One and Cupcakes, the Cutie Pox makes this what I like to call "Elevated Fanon".

In other news, the movie... Meh... I'm going to give it a chance, but if this is why Season 3 is so short, I'm very disappointed. I know it shouldn't really be a big thing, but I strongly dislike the high school setting, and theme is important for me in a movie. Still, it's too early to tell wether or not it will actually be good...
