They'll definitely make a third movie, the whole franchise was planned as a movie trilogy, so even if the second movie doesn't do as phenomenally as they hope, I still expect the third one to release as it's planned to be the last. Btw, saw HTTYD2, I loved it so much, love both of them, HTTYD is hands down my favorite non-Disney animated franchise.

Even after the second movie, the soundtrack of the first one is still my favorite soundtrack of all time.

Los Angeles, CA – August 15, 2014 – On the heels of yesterday’s opening day of $5.6 million in China, DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon 2 soared past the $500 million mark at the global box office. The highly acclaimed sequel is now not only one of the best reviewed films of the year, but also 2014’s highest grossing animated film to-date and one of the top ten grossing films of the year in any genre.

“We have been incredibly proud of How to Train Your Dragon 2 from the moment we saw it and we’re thrilled that it has been embraced around the world with such enthusiasm,” said Chief Marketing Officer Dawn Taubin. “This film is not only an artistic and technical achievement for DreamWorks, but its strength at the global box office proves that audiences are embracing it as one of the most entertaining films of the year.”

“This is a tremendous result for such a deserving, critically acclaimed film,” said Chris Aronson, President Domestic Theatrical Distribution, 20th Century Fox. “We look forward to riding Dragon 2 to greater box office heights.”

Through Thursday morning, How to Train Your Dragon 2 has grossed $170.6 million domestically and $331.2 million in international markets, including China, which premiered yesterday. Dragon 2 is still yet to be released in Italy, where it opens this weekend.

Not sure if I should post this, but they say it was made when they made the music for HTTYD 2 and it was meant for HTTYD 3.
I'll just post the YT link so I don't give away anything spoilery.
