Sneak peek: 'Mr. Peabody & Sherman'
The time-traveling genius dog and his human son are 'timeless characters,' the film's director says.

They might have been absent for a few decades, but the time-traveling duo of Mr. Peabody & Sherman are back for their greatest adventure — big-screen domination.

DreamWorks Animation is reviving the tale of the genius dog known as Mr. Peabody and his adopted human son, Sherman, an animated staple from the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show in the late '50s and early '60s. It will be released in 3-D on March 7.

"These are timeless characters," says director Rob Minkoff, "The nature of this relationship and Mr. Peabody's classic character — that has never gone out of style."

Nor does time travel go out of vogue, even if the Peabody-invented WABAC (pronounced "way back") machine has been updated for the iPad generation. It still allows the duo to visit any time period for Sherman's ultimate history lessons.

Ehh, I don't know how I feel about this trailer.

On one hand, I kind of want to see this movie because of Peabody, because let's face it that's why anyone cares.

On the other hand, I'm getting really tired of the chucked in love subplots* that plague every last animated adventure film nowadays, and this seems like another one. I don't mind romance in a film and I know that they used to have them back then too, but there are sooooo many lately where the main character is doing some preposterous task just to get their love, or you can see the half baked subplot without even watching(Lorax, Croods, now this, just some examples...).
It's not just me, is it? I mean, sometimes it can be good(I liked it in How To Train Your Dragon since that wasn't the focus, and it didn't really feel ridiculous, they still have individual lives and you can really see it, and I don't mind it much in most Pixar films because I think that they use it in more interesting ways than just tossing it on and they don't use it all the time and rarely focus on it), but I'm just getting tired of seeing it in every single film, where they're underdeveloped, and they just feel like they've been put in so that the female in the cast has some purpose. It's not me, is it? Heck, even WIR has this problem(to an extent).

But yeah, it just seems okay, nothing great going in on the plot, writing seems nice though. I'm undecided on wether I want to see it, but I'm leaning closer to no.

BTW the animation looks much better than the initial teaser images looked, which is good. I was worried when I first saw them but I don't mind the art style now.

* It's been a long time since I've actually watched one of the shorts, so forgive me if the girl was in them and I've just forgotten. :P

I have to see this. If I do, I will have seen 16 dreamworks animation films in a row. Have never missed a single one since flushed away would've been my 21st if I didn't miss over the hedge, :(
