Gal Gadot Cast as Wonder Woman in Batman vs. Superman!

Warner Bros. has announced this morning that Gal Gadot, most well known for appearing in the "Fast & Furious" films, has landed the role of Wonder Woman/Diana Prince in Zack Snyder's upcoming Batman vs. Superman film.

In a statement, Zack Snyder stated: "Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character."

Batman vs. Superman will feature the return of Henry Cavill as Superman, facing off against Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Also starring Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne, the Zack Snyder-directed Batman vs. Superman hits theaters on July 17, 2015.

Warner Bros. Pushes ‘Batman vs. Superman’ Back 10 Months to ‘Fully Realize Vision’

Warner Bros. Pictures has moved the release of its untitled “Batman vs. Superman” film from July 17, 2015, to May 6, 2016, to “allow the filmmakers time to realize fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story,” the studio told TheWrap on Friday.

The move is an interesting piece of the Marvel/Disney Warner Bros./DC rivalry for a couple of reasons: It takes Warner Bros. team-up of Ben Affleck’s Batman and Henry Cavill’s Superman out of the same summer as “Avengers: Age of Ultron” — and puts it squarely in the early-May zone that Marvel has owned since the gangbusters launch of “Iron Man” in 2008.

The studio says its date-change follows “the shift of the start of production to second quarter of this year.” The film was initially to begin shooting in Spring, and had already picked up some B-roll at a junior-college football game late last year.

Warner Bros. wasn’t about to let the plum summer 2015 date go unoccupied: In the same stroke, the studio moved its as-yet-untitled Peter Pan movie, directed by Joe Wright, into the July 17 slot.

“We are happy to take advantage of these coveted summer dates, which are perfect for two of our biggest tentpole releases,” distribution president Dan Fellman said. “We share the fans’ excitement to see DC Comics’ most popular figures, Superman and Batman, together on the big screen for the first time, which will now be arriving in theatres in May 2016. Peter Pan has delighted people of every generation for more than a century, so we are thrilled to bring him back to the screen next summer for today’s moviegoers.”

Gal Gadot’s Contract Reportedly Includes Justice League and Wonder Woman Films

Yesterday brought word from the actress herself that Gal Gadot's appearance as Wonder Woman in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman film wouldn't be her last, as she revealed she has signed a three-picture deal with Warner Bros.

Now, Variety is reporting that the two other films in question are none other than the long-rumored Justice League movie and a Wonder Woman solo feature. Keep in mind that contracts of this nature are very common place, especially among the big budget superhero genre, and isn't a guarantee for these films.

Gadot will make her Wonder Woman debut in the recently delayed Batman vs. Superman film, which will star Henry Cavill as Superman, facing off against Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne. Production is slated to begin later this year at the Michigan Motion Picture Studios in Pontiac where it will occupy all seven sound stages on the lot in addition to several locations around the state. Also starring Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne, the Zack Snyder-directed film is set for release on May 6, 2016.
