Oh yeah, forgot about the disaster that was the Mass Effect spin off movie.
Big name anime director, bad movie.
One word, continuity.
<cynic mode> I guess they don't have a word for that in Animespeak.
Even more galling, he didn't speak english, so nobody could explain to him the mistakes he was making.
1. Collectors aren't giants, they're human size.
2. The Citadel doesn't orbit Earth, it's in a nebula with no planets nearby.
3. When you get Huskified, you look like other husks, nobody can recognize the person you once were.
And there's the scene that never made sense to me.
You've got this big guy (and I mean big, James Vega is a walking slab of muscle!) and his Asari friend considering whether to rescue a colonist and her 8 year old daughter.
They spend a long time talking about rescuing them and take so long doing it, the Collectors show up and they have to retreat!
Let me get this right, there's two of them, so why didn't they pick up the colonist and her daughter, then make for Scarper City?
Vega can easily lift the weight of a full grown woman and the Asari could have just carried the little girl.
By the way, Collectors don't count their victims, so they wouldn't miss two people when they're more interested in volume.
Collectors aren't very smart by the way, but given that they practically have no higher brain functions at all, that's not surprising.
As far as I can tell, the only point to this scene was so they could kill them later for big drama moment.
Which is another issue I have with Anime, everyone must die because Director says so.
After seeing the movie, that was the sense I got, that the Director was doing whatever the heck he wanted and ignoring the source material.
Mass Effect isn't anime style, but he was making it into anime, which brought the quality of the movie down.
So yeah, another nail in the coffin of my interest in anime.
