Intro to toy box help

I have completed the 2.0 intro to the toy box except for one mission. The mission to do the race. When you race it has you drift to gain energy and then it tells your to use your boost. I use the boost and it doesnt give me credit that i'm boosting. Am i doing something wrong or is this just a glitch?
