Speedway-style speed/turbo pickups

Postby KnightDriver » Sat Apr 02, 2016 11:01 pm

Pretty sure the answer is "No," but...
Has anyone figured out how to do the type of speed pickups that Speedway uses? I really hate the turbo pads and wish I could use the type of speed increase that Speedway does.

Even if we could just use a collectable, and have a creativ-a-toy that let us tell the car to speed up or something, I'd be happy.

Use something to activate a weather vane that just affects vehicles for a second or two.
The downside is that it would affect all vehicles. At least I never thought of a way of being more selective.

Thanks for the idea Calysto. It made me think and I found a way! The speed pads can be turned off and on with logic connections. So if you have a trigger area that the cars pass through that turns the pad off, then put a collectable (I used the gears, because CAR, LOL) and tell the collectable to turn on the speed pad when it's picked up! It works, I tried it. :) Then just reset the collectable after a cool-down period.

Nice find. I may have to try this on a box I am working on. It is a 2.0 box though.

Way to keep at it!

But isn't the "On" just activating the pad? So you still have to touch the pad to get the boost?
