Possible to make Community Servers?

Postby Icephilipp » Thu Jun 23, 2016 2:01 pm

I wondered if it is possible to set up community servers, when disney shuts their servers down? So the best function, the sharing of Toyboxes will be aviable again?

There are some 'very promising' rumblings happening elsewhere on the interweb. It's all on a 'need to know', but there are many fingers being crossed.

I would think that the server address would be hard coded into the game. But, if it's possible that would be awesome.

It's more likely a hostname, rather than a fixed IP, but in either case, this can be defeated by a router or proxy. It wouldn't necessarily be the easiest thing for people to configure, but having a router detect calls to an IP, and then redirecting the call is pretty easy.

I'd assume SSL certificates would be a bigger deal, but if people are currently working on this, as @BionicKoalaBoy suggests, then that's unlikely to be an issue either.

@adbe

I am far from tech-y, and old old fart who simply wants to keep gaming. But the babble on-line at least gives me hope. ;)

If it's possible to keep the servers going or make a new one, then that would be amazing! Would love to continue to share new content with you guys like The Disneyland Project, the Magic Mayhem reboot and a new Halloween toybox that is in the works as we speak.
