Hardware Question Wiiu/Xbox

Postby Valen2032 » Sat Aug 17, 2013 5:16 am

I am new to this and have a question relating to the hardware. Are the bases universal with the game disc being the only difference in the starter packs? Could I use a base that came with a Wiiu starter pack connected to an xbox 360?

Thanks.

I am pretty sure the base is specifically for the console you chose to buy it for.

The bases are just an NFC reader, the hardware isn't what you need to worry about it's the drivers (software). Assuming you have drivers for the Wii and the XBox 360it should work.

All of the companies have certain requirements and standards for peripherals so each base is only designed to work for the system it was made for.

^That's true but it's all on the software level meaning if you tear down a PS3 or an XBox base the internals are the same. The requirements are all different on the software level but an NFC reader will work on any system as long as it has proper drivers. The guys at iFixIt should have a teardown after the game launches they usually do with these kind of things.

^That is good to hear. Which means only one base forever!

^Ummm... yes and no.

You'll still need software, I'd imagine Disney will not sell you the game without the pad, it's "bad buisness" for them. From a business perspective why would they charge you only 40-50 dollars for the software when they can charge you 80 and throw in a 5-10 dollar NFC reader?

^Because they get you in and you can buy more figures with that money.
