Another reason to preorder can be having the product mailed to your home/office, so you don't have to bother going for it after work (if stores are open at that time). Not the case of the OP as he said he has a 24 hour store near him, but here it's different and having to drive after getting off work to a store where they "may" have them isn't the most attractive idea, while I could just wait 1 more day and have it delivered at my office.

I've pre-ordered mainly for the fact that I get the two packs of power discs included with the starter pack (EB Games Australia), but also for the fact that there's going to be next to no display space provided at the local games stores (this according to a friend of mine who is an area manager for EB) & JB Hi Fi also having low stock on release.

I've preordered everything I plan on picking up on day 1 from bestbuy. I figure if I'm going to buy them then might as well make sure ill get everything when I walk in the store since I'm not paying any extra to preorder. Did it online and have 3 giant orders cuz I like to impulse buy.

Everyone's said it already, but preordering basically guarantees you will get one and you get free stuff with it. Preordering almost has the same mindset as going at midnight in that you want to make sure you can get it without the chance of it selling out. I'd personally take the free gifties over having it at midnight anyways, simply go pick up the game when you wake up and it will feel no different plus you won't get tired and want to sleep if you start playing in the middle of the night.
