Sorry, no answers from me, but I hear of this a lot.

When I was younger... around 35 years ago... I remember not wanting to sleep because I always felt I was going to miss something.

Tonight my 3yo went to sleep just before midnight. I was giving him a break since he had a fever earlier and took a 5 hour nap today.

So not just a girl thing then?
It's weird though, at that age I was excited for the next day to start, boring in the dark, plus bed was so comfy I just liked to curl up. When I got a bit older, say 9, or so, then I wanted more time (to game, or browse Internet, etc. etc.), so I may have gone to bed, but usually have something on under the sheets.

Ah, mis timed naps, yes they can really mess everything up.
On the other hand, I guiltily do like her when she has a bug, she's much quieter and cuddly, instead of bouncy off the walls.
Have to be careful timing it with calpol, too soon before bed and we're all doomed, or at least a quiet night is.

Youngest takes after me more, big softy, LOTS of hugs, likes to sit on your lap and be picked up, even if just for a second and then wants to be passed to someone else. Throws a right tantrum if she doesn't get a hug. Just has a few words so far, unlike her chatterbox older sister.
