I can tell you, they're painted in a smooth matte finish. They have a nice weight to them and very nice detail. They're similar in size to Skylanders, some being as tall as the Giants figures.
When fist announced, I was honestly very concerned they would look like McDonald's Happy Meal toys, was I wrong!
In my (admit-tingly biased) opinion, they look and feel like collectible figurines you'd want to have on your desk at work.

From what I've seen so far, they look like figures I would collect even without being connected to a game. And they are honestly less expensive than the stuff I usually collect. I can't wait!

Thanks for the welcome! I totally agree with FelixBrownSLC and his description of the figures. They have a smooth matte finish and do not feel like plastic toy at all. I also collect Skylanders and in my personal opinion the first figures really look cheap sometimes. On some figures you could see the line where the parts are glued together. This was not the case on any Infinity character i have seen so far. They have also a good weight, not too light.
Especially the details on Jack Sparrow are fantastic, you can see the work they put in the figures. The characters I have seen yet are really beautiful collectible figures and look nice in every Disney collection!

I think this is fantastic news and should be moved to its own thread and out of introductions so more people can find it. =]

As miniature sculptor and painter I am glad to hear how good the build quality is.
