Hello all, I am a new member on this site! :)

I collect Skylanders figures, I'm curious about this game.
Does anybody know if there will be rare figure variants? I'd kill if there was a Glow in the Dark Barbossa figure that changes into his skeleton form in the dark.

Well to start off, I have no idea, but I will make an assumption.....and we all know what that means.

But considering this is taking the same path as skylanders with a portal, figures, and different playset themes and Disney's history with variants I would say yes.

They may not have a lot of variants just a few. Disney will want to see how successful this game is.

But disney has different variants for vinylmation that go for loads of money. Ghost Obi-Wan from the Star Wars series comes to mind as well as the Park Starz variant of the Bride from the Haunted Mansion.

They do cars and toy story variants.

So I would expect at least one variant when Disney Infinity is released. And a skeleton Barbossa would be an awesome way to go!

I hope that they don't do as many as Skylanders did. It'll already be hard enough to gain a 100% complete collection considering that tokens are in blind bags.
If they made any Wreck-It Ralph variants, I believe we can safely say that I die at the end. But I wouldn't be surprised if they made at least one for every series, or something.

I really hope that they don't. I don't have enough time or money to get those variants!

I answer this, you have to look at the amount of Cash the first intake will make. I think a 6 months went by before Skylanders released a statement saying that there would be Variants in there Figures.

I think that the Play Sets are so big that there wont be time to work on doing the same character with a different looks or poses however I could be wrong. At the launch event in Hollywood it was stated that there plan is to bring the consumers tons more of the playsets as well as rolling out "quite a few" Power Discs and Token.
So with that said I'm going to say NO.

In the end, Matt, you can always buy and paint an extra yourself. ;) I myself am working on touching up a couple of extra Skylanders.
