Don't get me wrong, Anna knows what she is doing, but Mario travels across the world every time the princess gets kidnapped.
Anna had trouble getting to the north side of her city.
While you could argue that she had more environmental danger, Mario's surroundings change frequently and he still manages.
My point goes to Mario this time around.

Mario, how gone on an epic journey once, and Mario has been on an epic journey hundreds of times.

Mario. Hes a plumber, go kart racer, doctor, tennis player, golf player, cat, father, etc. and he still manages to save a princess like over 9000 times.

Anna however was able to do what most females couldn't : The noble acomplishments that a male hero would usually make!
